All coaches must inform both their players and player’s parents or guardians of the Piedmont Volleyball Club playing time policy. Every player is entitled to equal time in practice. Players will receive significant playing time at tournaments (provided they have attended all practices since the previous tournament (at least four practices prior to the first tournament, not including the tryout sessions) or the coach has excused their absence in advance. For example, in a tournament with a pool of 4 or 5 teams, significant time is defined as a minimum of three full games (start to finish) or six games in a regular front row/back row rotation. The guaranteed significant playing time is voided for that tournament if the player did not meet the practice requirement, becomes injured or ill, arrives late to the tournament, has to leave the tournament early or has behaved in a manner that has required disciplinary action to be taken.
All coaches must inform both their players and player’s parent or guardians of the Piedmont Volleyball Club commitment policy. Players who desire to play volleyball with the Piedmont Volleyball Club are expected to make a commitment to attend all practices and tournaments. We understand that there are other activities that are important in your life (church, school activities and athletics, club sports, family outings, drama, music, etc.), however the schedule of practices and tournaments is set so a family can plan around the schedule. We understand that there may be one or two instances that prohibit a player from making a practice or tournament and these should be identified and communicated to the coach as soon as possible. If you have more than a couple of instances where you are not able to make a practice or a tournament, maybe you should consider being an alternate for the team or limit the activities that you are involved in. There are times where it is better to do fewer things and do them well rather than do more things half-committed. This is one of those times.
All coaches must inform both their players and player’s parent or guardians of the Piedmont Volleyball Club playing up in age group policy. Players are encouraged to tryout for their appropriate age group. An exception will be considered if a player’s skill and/or experience is such that they will strengthen (start or be a main player) on the top team in the older age group. We feel that the opportunity to be a leader and main player in their age group is an important part of the player’s development.
